Fabrication / Assembly Technician

As a Fabrication/Assembly Technician at Wavemaker Labs, your core competencies in hands-on fabrication and assembly of mechanical systems will allow you to shine. You will join a talented team in the development of robotics and automation systems as part of the Wavemaker Labs start-up incubator.

Qualifications:

  • Strong competency and understanding of shop safety in a normal workshop
  • Capable with basic hand tools (wrenches, drivers, measuring tools) and power tools (hand drills, drill press, chop saw, band saw, sanders/grinders)
  • Understanding of various metallic and non-metallic materials, and their attributes
  • Understanding of various manufacturing/prototyping processes and their attributes
  • Experience reading and following engineering drawings
  • Precision assembly experience and rapid prototyping
  • Basic understanding of electro-mechanical assemblies and components (soldering preferred)
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and sometimes partially defined requirements
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and basic computer programs

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or certifications
  • Experience with CAD/CAM, familiarity with GD&T
  • Experience with 3D printing processes
  • Experience with welding and/or metal working
  • Experience with robotic assemblies or similar
  • Experience in food-safe applications
  • Experience working with high voltage systems
  • Familiarity with CNC processes and operation
